Hidden Honeymoon Gems – Chiang Mai, Thailand – part of the weddings video series by GeoBeats. Chiang Mai, located in the north of Thailand, is a honeymoon spot for the creative ones. It’s a beautiful city with a dizzying array of things to see and do. This ancient city was founded in the late 13th century, and quickly rose to prominence due to its strategic location. Though it is an international city, with a mix of many nationalities, Thai culture is still predominant and distinct. Chiang Mai is a bustling locale with many exciting sights, from night clubs to museums to displays of Thai traditions and rituals. It is a major religious center in Thailand and boasts over three hundred Buddhist temples throughout the city.

A short excursion on WatUmong Meditation Center. It is a donation based meditation center practicing Vipassana meditation. One can come any day at 8am to begin studying. Must have white cloth, and all necessary stuff with. Classes begin 4 am bedtime 9 am. Single rooms with just a mat on the flor+blanket+pillow. Shared bathroom. Men and women live in separate buildings. No talks allowed. Located near Chiang Mai University, any driver takes you to WUMC for 120 baht from central Chiang Mai. Highly recommended as a place to learn and practice Vipassana meditation. Not recommended for just wondering and killing time, do it somewhere else. Be Mindful.
